Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami withdraws candidates
KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has decided to withdraw all its candidates from Karachi and two constituencies’ of Hyderabad and have decided to observe a peaceful strike on May 13 as a sign of protest.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami, Syed Munawar Hassan made the announcement at a press conference in Karachi and said his party is boycotting the elections from all constituencies in Karachi two constituencies in Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, JI leader Owais Noorani claimed that rigging has begun in all polling stations in Karachi following which they have decided to withdraw their candidates from the elections in the metropolis.
JI Chief Karachi, Muhammad Hussain Mehanti said JI is a democratic party and wants democracy to flourish, adding that they cannot accept these elections.
